Homework and announcements
Homework is generally posted on the day it is assigned. Assignments are due at the next class, unless otherwise stated. If an assignment is given in class but isn't posted here for whatever reason, you're still responsible for it.
HW due and Quiz on Fri. 10/1
- On pp. 117-121, read Chapter 3 Lesson 7 "Parallel and Perpendicular Lines," and do Exercise Sets I and II.
- We will have a quiz tomorrow on Chapter 3. One of the questions will be to prove one of the eight theorems found in the chapter. (The theorems are all listed together on p. 123.)
HW due Thu. 9/30
On pp. 110-115, read Chapter 3 Lesson 6 "Linear Pairs and Vertical Angles," then do Exercise Sets I and II.
HW due Tue. 9/28
On pp. 98-109 of Chapter 3 in the textbook:
- Do Lesson 4 exercises 7-25, 34-36, and 41-47.
- Read Lesson 5 "Complementary and Supplementary Angles."
- Do Lesson 5 exercises 15-46 and Set III.
HW due Mon. 9/27
- On pp. 91-97, read Chapter 3 Lesson 3 "The Protractor and Angle Measure," then do exercises 8-43 and 48-53.
- On pp. 98-100, just read Chapter 3 Lesson 4 "Bisection." We'll do problems from that section in class on Monday. Keep bringing your book to class.
HW due Fri. 9/24
Starting on page 84, read Chapter 3 Lesson 2 "The Ruler and Distance" and do these exercises: 6-19, 23-28, 37-46, and Set III.
HW due and Quiz on Thu. 9/23
- On pp. 60-64, read Chapter 2 Lesson 5 "A Deductive System," and do these exercises: 1-3, 6-25, 32-41, and Set III.
- We'll have a short quiz Thursday on Chapter 2 Lessons 1-5.
HW due Tue. 9/21
Finish this work begun in class:
- On pp. 50-54: read Chapter 2 Lesson 3 "Direct Proof"; do exercises 1-7 and 15-28.
- On pp. 55-59: read Chapter 2 Lesson 4 "Indirect Proof"; do exercises 3-21.
HW due Mon. 9/20
On pp. 46-49, read Chapter 2 Lesson 2 "Definitions" [G block class has done this reading already] and do Exercise Sets I, II, and III.
If you are unable to do this assignment because of the holiday, catching up on Monday will be fine.
HW due Fri. 9/17
Here is the homework:
- On pp. 42-45, read Chapter 2 Lesson 1 "Conditional Statements," and do Exercise Sets I, II, and III.
- Just for G block class: Additionally, on pp. 46-47, read Chapter 2 Lesson 2 "Definitions." (You do not have to do exercises for this lesson yet.)
One more thing: please bring your textbook to class for the next few classes.

- On pp. 30-32, read Chapter 1 Lesson 5 "We Can't Go On Like This," and do Exercise Sets I and II. (We will have already done Set III in class.)
- We will have a quiz Thursday based on Chapter 1 of the textbook.
HW due Tue. 9/14
- Read Chapter 1 Lesson 4 "Constructions..." on pp. 24-25.
- Do the two constructions on p. 25 using compass and straightedge.
- In Exercise Set I on pp. 26-27, do problems 1-6 and 10-16.
- Do all of Exercise Set III on p. 29.
HW due Mon. 9/13

- Reading: pp. xiii-xiv, 8-9, 13-15, and 18-20.

HW due Fri. 9/10
- Finish the problem sheet "Polyominos" from Tue. 9/7 class.
- Hand in your solution to the "Nets of Cubes" problem. See the 9/1 and 9/2 handouts for details. If this date isn’t going to work for you for holiday-related reasons, you may submit your work on Monday 9/13 instead.
First homework: Nets of Cubes
Your first homework assignment is to write up your solution to the Nets of Cubes problem. See the class handouts from 9/1 and 9/2 for information and specific directions.
You may hand in this solution at either of our two classes next week: Tue. 9/7 or Fri. 9/10.
To do on Wed. night 9/1
In class we began work on a problem about Nets of Cubes, but you do not have to finish that problem tonight, we will resume tomorrow.
These are the things that you are expected to do tonight:
- Complete the personal survey distributed in class today.
- Make a plan for getting the needed supplies (see list distributed in class) by the beginning of the next week.
