First week of school

During our first two classes on Wed. 8/31 and Thu. 9/1, our class got acquainted and worked through parts of the introductory problem "The Surfer and The Spotter" on pp. 2-5.

There will not be any mathematical homework until after Labor Day Weekend. However, there are the following tasks to complete this week:

• Get your school supplies. Besides the usual items needed for any class (notebook, paper, pens or pencils, etc.) you will also need a calculator (graphing or scientific), compass, ruler, and protractor.
• Send me an e-mail introducing yourself. (See class handout for details.)
• Be ready to receive e-mail that's sent to your FirstClass account. (See class handout for two ways to do this.)
• Read the Course Guide.
