Homework and announcements

Homework is generally posted on the day it is assigned. Assignments are due at the next class, unless otherwise stated. If an assignment is given in class but isn't posted here for whatever reason, you're still responsible for it.

Test Wed. 2/1

On Wednesday we'll have a short (about 30 minutes) test on Chapter 9: area and the Pythagorean Theorem.

Monday in class we worked on the review exercises on pp. 371-375. Your homework is to finish the review problems and prepare for the test.
Friday, January 27, 2012

HW due Mon. 1/30

In class we worked on the computer lab "Area investigations with Sketchpad." The homework is to do problems 6-8 at the end of the lab packet. (You do not need Sketchpad to do the homework problems.)

Students who were absent on Friday: You can download the computer lab packet from FirstClass. The lab can be done using either Sketchpad (available at school) or Geogebra (free download). Just ignore the program-specific tips if you're using Geogebra; you'll need to use the equivalent commands in that program.

Mini-project due Mon. 1/9 or Wed. 1/11

Read sections 1 through 7 of Tessellations by Recognizable Figures from the site Math and the Art of M.C. Escher. Then choose just one of the tessellation strategies and make your own tessellation design. See today's class handout for more details of what is expected and how your work will be evaluated. This assignment will count as a mini-project and may be handed in either Monday 1/9 or Wednesday 1/11.
